Traveling to Austin for Your Boudoir Session: My Simple Fly/Stay/Eat Guide | Austin Boudoir Photography

A lot of my clients travel in from out of town (some from many states away), so I wanted to make your planning as easy as possible. Here are my go-to recommendations for flying in, where to stay and a few favorite meals to work into your trip.
Fly into: Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)
Book your flights into Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). It’s the main airport for Austin and the most convenient option for getting to your session and your hotel. (My favorite hotel is located in Round Rock, located minutes from the studio.) Address: 3600 Presidential Blvd, Austin, 78719 Quick driving reality check (so you can plan confidently):
      • AUS → Round Rock: about 35 miles (roughly 30–45 minutes depending on traffic).
    • Round Rock → The Studio in Pflugerville: about 6 miles (roughly 15–20 minutes depending on traffic).
My quick tip: if you can, arrive a day or two before your shoot. That’d give you time to settle in, sleep well and feel calm (instead of rushed) on your shoot day. We start the shoot right at 9am and wrap up around noon-ish, give or take.
Stay here: The Ruby Hotel (Round Rock) If you want a stay that feels like a treat (but still easy, relaxed, and not fussy), I love The Ruby Hotel & Bar in Round Rock. Address: 400 Fannin Ave, Round Rock, 78664 Why I recommend it:
      • It’s a boutique hotel with 39 rooms
      • Rooms are known for private balconies and that “exhale” vibe (creek/garden views)
    • There’s an on-site bar/kitchen and a pool, so you can keep things simple and still feel like you’re on a mini getaway
If you’re coming in specifically for your boudoir experience, The Ruby is one of those places that sets the tone: cozy, cute and confidence-boosting.
Other great stay options: The Domain (Austin)
If you’d rather stay in Austin, The Domain area is a popular choice because it’s packed with shopping + restaurants and has great hotel options all in one place.
Archer Hotel Austin (Domain NORTHSIDE) A stylish boutique option right by The Domain — walkable, modern, and very “treat yourself” energy. Address: 3121 Palm Way, Austin, 78758
Lone Star Court (The Domain) A fun boutique stay with a Texas-cool vibe — relaxed, charming, and still right in the Domain area. Address: 10901 Domain Dr, Austin, 78758
Eat here: My Austin favoriteS
Chez Zee This is one of my “Austin classic” picks, especially if you want something that feels special without being stiff. They’re known for American comfort-style dishes with local influence, plus weekend brunch and desserts that are honestly worth planning around. Address: 5406 Balcones Dr, Austin, 78731 What to get: For some incredible appetizers, get Lucinda’s Basil Cheese Torta and the Asian Beef Kabobs. Hands down, my absolute favorites.
DeSano Pizzeria Napoletana If you want a fun, delicious, no-stress meal: DeSano. It’s a true Neapolitan-style pizza spot with wood-burning ovens, and they follow the Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) standards. Address: 8000 Burnet Rd, Austin, 78757 What to get: The Pepperoni Doppio is life changing. Trust me on this one..
Kerbey Lane Café (Round Rock) If you want something that feels so Austin, Kerbey Lane is an Austin original that’s been around since 1980, with made-from-scratch comfort food, breakfast all day — it’s the kind of place that works for any part of your trip (arrival night, pre-shoot breakfast, post-shoot celebratory brunch). Address (Round Rock): 2120 N Mays St, Round Rock, 78664 What to get: you can’t go wrong with their Cowboy Queso and pancakes (they’re what a lot of people associate them with). Convenience bonus: there’s even a Round Rock location, which is super handy if you’re staying at The Ruby. Heads up: hours vary by location—many are 7am–10pm, and some run later on weekends.
Magnolia Cafe (classic Austin diner vibes) If you want a true Austin staple with breakfast-all-day energy, Magnolia Cafe is a longtime local favorite — comfort food, tacos/migas, pancakes… the works. Address: 1920 S Congress Ave, Austin, 78704 What to get: Similar to Kerbey’s Cowboy Queso, their Mag Mud is fantastic. They also serve breakfast all day, but I’s recommend their Magnolia Enchiladas.
A simple “boudoir travel” game plan
Day or two before your session
      • Fly into AUS
      • Check into your hotel
      • Early dinner (DeSano is perfect for this)
    • Early-ish night
Shoot day
      • Give yourself extra time in the morning (no rushing = better photos)
      • Bring a water bottle + a light snack if you’d like, though I do have some snacks available in the studio
    • After your session: celebratory brunch/dessert moment at Chez Zee
That’s it—keep it simple: fly in, stay somewhere cozy, eat something delicious, and show up rested. The goal is for you to feel relaxed and taken care of. 💕
