10 Things About Me Most People Don’t Know | Austin Boudoir Photography

#FeelGoodBloggingChallenge

Day Four of Alex Beadon’s “Feel Good Blogging Challenge” asked me to post 10 things about me most people don’t know!
Here we go:

Uno

I am an avid nail polish collector although I very rarely paint my own nails.  (…this is only, maybe, 1/3 of all of them):

I had dreadlocks for 10 years but shaved them off in December of 2012.  I miss them horribly, but it was the most high-maintenance hair I have ever had!  Seems like it should be the opposite, but no.

My hair is quite straight, naturally, so it “fought” the dreads!  My OCD came into play with them, too, because I couldn’t handle the only once a week (or less) hair washing regimen.  I washed mine every couple of days.  One of the hardest parts was that you had to make sure they were 100% dry before sleeping on them, otherwise you’d be dealing with fungus growing inside the actual dreads.  Needless to say, mine were the cleanest, most kept up with dreads this side of the Mississippi!  😉

I pick at my nails/fingers when I am nervous.  Or anxious.  Or excited.  I get especially bad when watching movies in the theater for some reason.

In high school, my dream car was an old 1960’s station-wagon with fake wood paneling.  Like this one (not my photos, sadly):

As a 9th grader at Pflugerville High School I established the, still standing, Life Skills Special Education Classroom Internship.  Having a little sister with Autism, I volunteered for Special Olympics for years and years.  I knew I wanted to work in the special ed. field from very early on.  So, in high school I asked to be placed in the special ed. classroom as a teacher’s assistant.  I found out that that wasn’t even a possibility.  I brought it to the school counselor and we created it together!

Seis

My favorite scent is my son’s nose breath.

When I was about 5 years old my parents noticed that when I sang I had perfect pitch.  They brought me to see Dr. Bernard Gastler, the founder of the Austin Children’s Choir.  I auditioned for him and was accepted on the spot.  The only thing was that I couldn’t officially be accepted until I was 7 years old.  He told my mom to bring me back on my 7th birthday!  She did and it was a lot of fun.

In 8th grade, through the Austin Children’s Choir, I sent in an audition on a cassette tape to the National Children’s Choir.  They accept 2 students from each 50 states for their big annual choir performance up in Minneapolis.  I was chosen and my mom and I flew up there!  It was such an amazing trip – one that I will never forget!  I need to dig up the video from that concert!  Ha!  Fun stuff!  😉

I have 16 tattoos…but I am a HUGE cry-baby about pain!  (ask Sean Rakos, my tattoo artist)  Here are about 3/4 of them:

My favorite flavor of ice cream is Bubblegum….pink or blue.  With the little pieces of un-chewable bubblegum in it!

My husband & I made an appointment with a fertility specialist and didn’t know we were already pregnant!  What a wonderful surprise that was!

I called to cancel the fertility appointment (you know, the one where Neil was going to have to do a sperm count test, and I was going to have to undergo my very own super fun tests) and I scheduled my first prenatal appointment!  😉

This is my first ultrasound.  I was barely 5.5 weeks along.  The baby (Utah) was the size of an orange seed!
